These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of the Notifier for Codex apps for iOS and Android ("the Companion Apps"), codex-notifier, the command line tool for macOS, Linux and Windows ("codex-notifier"), and the relay server that connects them, collectively referred to as "the Apps". The Apps are provided by TouchTap Ltd ("we," "us," or "our").
01Description of Service
Notifier for Codex is a notification system designed to work with Codex (OpenAI's command-line coding agent). The service consists of:
- Notifier for Codex (iOS/Android): Mobile apps that receive notifications from your computers and let you answer Codex's requests remotely.
- codex-notifier (macOS, Linux and Windows): A command line tool that Codex runs through its hooks. It sends notifications when Codex finishes or needs your attention, and can make Codex wait for your answer from the phone. It is installed with a script from this website, with Homebrew, or with npm.
- Cloud Relay Service: A server-side component that passes notifications and answers between your computers and mobile devices, and keeps each computer's settings.
02License Grant
2.1 codex-notifier
codex-notifier is provided free of charge. Its source code is made available under the PolyForm Shield License 1.0.0. That license lets you use, change and share codex-notifier, for personal or commercial purposes, as long as you keep its copyright notice and do not use codex-notifier to provide a product that competes with Notifier for Codex.
The PolyForm Shield License, not these Terms, governs your use of codex-notifier's source code. These Terms govern your use of our relay server and the Companion Apps together with codex-notifier.
2.2 Companion Applications
The Companion Apps are free to download. Using them requires an active subscription or a lifetime purchase. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to:
- Download and install the Companion Apps on your personal mobile devices
- Use the Companion Apps with codex-notifier
- Purchase subscriptions or one-time purchases to unlock the Companion Apps
2.3 Restrictions
Except as allowed for codex-notifier's source code in 2.1, or by applicable law, you agree not to:
- Copy, modify, adapt, or create derivative works of the Apps

- Remove, alter, or obscure any proprietary notices in the Apps
- Distribute, sublicense, lease, rent, or lend the Apps to third parties

- Use the Apps to transmit malicious code or interfere with our services
- Circumvent any technological measures designed to control access to the Apps

3.1 codex-notifier
codex-notifier is free to download and use.
3.2 Companion App Access
The Companion Apps are free to download, but receiving mobile notifications and sending responses from your mobile device requires an active subscription (including a free trial) or a lifetime purchase made in the app through Apple or Google. codex-notifier remains free to use without any purchase.
3.3 Companion App In-App Purchases
To unlock the Companion Apps, you may purchase one of the following:

- Device Transfer: Your purchase is tied to your Apple ID or Google account and can be restored on any device signed into that account
3.6 Refunds for In-App Purchases
All in-app purchase refunds are handled by Apple or Google respectively. We do not process refunds directly for in-app purchases. To request a refund:
- iOS: Contact Apple Support or use the Report a Problem feature in your purchase history
- Android: Contact Google Play Support or request a refund through your Google Play order history
3.7 Separate From Claude Code Notifier
Notifier for Codex and Claude Code Notifier, our app for Claude Code, are separate products. A purchase in one does not unlock the other, and a phone pairs only with its own product's command line tool.
04Account and Device Pairing
4.1 Device Pairing
There are no user accounts. To use mobile notifications, you pair your mobile device with each computer. Pairing requires:
- codex-notifier installed on your computer
- The Companion App installed on your mobile device
- An internet connection on both devices
- A pairing code. The Companion App shows a 6-digit code and the command to run, and you enter it on the computer; codex-notifier can also show a QR code that you scan on the phone. A code the phone shows, and a QR code codex-notifier shows, can be used for 24 hours
Up to three mobile devices can be paired with each computer. When you pair, codex-notifier adds its hooks to Codex's hooks file (~/.codex/hooks.json), records them as trusted in Codex's configuration file (~/.codex/config.toml), and keeps a one-time backup of each file.
4.2 Pairing Security
You are responsible for maintaining the security of your device pairings. You should:
- Only pair devices you personally own or control
- Revoke pairings for devices you no longer use or have lost
- Not share pairing codes with others
4.3 Revoking Pairings
You may revoke device pairings at any time from the Companion Apps, or with codex-notifier devices or codex-notifier uninstall. Revoking a pairing will:
- Stop notifications from being sent to that device
- Mark the pairing as revoked in our cloud service, which deletes it 60 days later
- Leave any pending notifications to be deleted on the usual schedule, within 48 hours
05Cloud Relay Service
5.1 Service Description
Our cloud relay service connects your computers and paired mobile devices. The service:
- Receives notification data from codex-notifier
- Delivers push notifications to your mobile devices
- Relays your responses back to your computer
- Stores each computer's settings, so you can change them from your mobile device
- Stores notifications temporarily, deleting them within 48 hours
5.2 Answering from Your Phone
When you are away from the keyboard, codex-notifier can make Codex wait for your answer from the phone, for up to the time set for that computer (10 minutes unless you change it). An approval, rejection, answer or instruction you send from your mobile device is passed to Codex as if you had given it at the computer. You are responsible for the answers you send, and for what Codex does after you approve a request. If no answer arrives in time, or the connection fails, Codex continues as it normally would and asks in the terminal.
5.3 Service Availability
We strive to maintain high availability of the cloud relay service, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted service. The service may be temporarily unavailable due to:
- Scheduled maintenance
- Unplanned outages
- Network issues beyond our control
- Actions by third-party service providers
5.4 Service Modifications
We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the cloud relay service at any time with or without notice. We will make reasonable efforts to provide advance notice of significant changes.
06Data and Privacy
Your use of the Apps is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which describes how we collect, use, and protect your data. By using the Apps, you consent to our data practices as described in the Privacy Policy.
6.1 Sensitive Information
6.2 Data Retention
codex-notifier deletes its session files when a session ends, or after 7 days without use. Notifications in our cloud service are automatically deleted within 48 hours. If a phone or computer is not used for 60 days, our cloud service deletes its records, settings and pairings, and you will need to pair it again to keep using it. Purchase records are kept for 6 years from their date, then deleted.
